Manmohan Singh celebrates Raksha Bandhan

New Delhi, Aug 16 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur joined the Raksha Bandhan celebrations here today with school children from the Capital, who tied rakhis on his wrist at his official residence.

The Prime Minister in his greeting to the people on the occasion said that the festival was an occasion to uphold the traditional values of the country's culture and acknowledge and celebrate the role of women.

Dr. Singh also distributed sweets to the children of the Society for Rehabilitation of Physically Handicapped, All India Balmiki Samaj and some other schools.
