Centre, AP Govts fulfilled all 2004 poll promises: CM
Hyderabad, Aug 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today claimed that his government and the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre had fulfilled all promises made during the 2004 general elections.
Participating in a workshop organised for Congress spokespersons of southern states here, Dr Reddy said both the Centre and the state government had allocated huge funds for the welfare of farmers.
His government had been providing free power to farmers in the state from the day he assumed office. The scheme would be continued till the Congress remained in power in the state, he added.
Stating that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi supported the government for providing free power to the farmers, he said the Centre had doubled the loan facility to the peasants and reduced interest rates.
Exuding confidence that the Congress would win the 2009 general elections with a thumping majority, the Chief Minister claimed that more than 24 lakh farmers in the state were benefitted by the free power scheme.
