Case for hurting Dera followers' sentiments lodged in Pillibanga

Jaipur, Aug 16 (UNI) A case has been lodged at the Pillibanga police station for hurting religions sentiments of Dera Sacha Sauda followers by way of "character assassination and false propaganda against the Dera Chief" at a Sikh congregation.

Dera followers who were trying to hold rasta roko in the town, were told of the filing of the FIR by authorities this afternoon and they were persuaded by the officials to maintain peace.

The authorities have also assured the Dera followers due action in the case within a week.

Meanwhile, Bhagwan Das Jindal, who died following his immolation bid on Thursday in protest against above ''character assassination of Dera Chief,'' was cremated today.

Jindal who sustained over 90 per cent burn injuries in his self immolation bid outside Pillibanga SDM Office, succumbed at a the SMS Hospital here yesterday, Police sources said.

Jindal was upset over "character assassination and false propaganda" against Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim at kirtan Deewan held by Sikhs in Lakhuwali village near Pillibanga for past three four days.

Jindal had gone to the SDM office alongwith Dera followers' delegation to hold a meeting with a Sikh delegation convened by the SDM on Thursday.
