Thousands join procession in Srinagar
Srinagar, Aug 15 (UNI) Thousands of people today took to streets, raising pro-freedom and anti-security forces and communal forces slogans in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir this afternoon.
Immediately after the Friday prayers were over, thousands of people in different areas took to streets this afternoon.
The processionists marching from different directions reached the historic Lal Chowk after marching through different streets.
However, there was no intervention by the security forces and police deployed at both sides of the roads.
A massive demonstration was held at Lal Chowk where some processionists hoisted black and green flags.
They were demanding the opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road for trade and free movement.
The processionists also raised slogans against the alleged economic blockade, attack on Muslims, Kashmiri drivers and Gujjars in Jammu by Hindu fundamentalists.
They also criticised the use of force against peaceful demonstrators in Kashmir by the security forces.
The agitaters also condemned the security forces and police firing that left about 30 people, including senior Hurriyat Conference leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz dead and 500 others wounded since August 11.
