Rs.42.38 Crore relief sought for East Godavari

Kakinada, Aug 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for small scale industries Gollapalli Surya Rao today said the recent heavy rains had caused considerable damage to both crops and property in East Godavari district and the state government has sought Rs 42.38 crore from the Centre for relief.

Participating in Independence Day celebrations here, he said, 311 villages and crops in 26,000 hectares were affected.

Considerable damage was also caused to roads, drinking water supply system and electrical installations.

He said the damage to crops and houses was being assessed.
