Puducherry Cong seeks Govt intervention in NIT admissions
Puducherry, Aug 15 (UNI) The Puducherry Munnetra Congress today urged the intervention of Chief Minister V Rangasamy and education minister to ensure that the Puducherry candidates get admitted in the seats earmarked for them in the National Institute of Technologies(NITs).
In a statement here, PMC spokesman K Lakshminarayanan said the Puducherry education directorate in a notice today said that the Central Counselling Board has informed that special counselling to fill the 31 supernumerary seats in NITs for Puducherry Union territory would be held on-line on August 19 and 20.
The candidates are requested to register immediately by sending across a DD for Rs 15,000(Rs 5000 for SC/ST canadidates) to reach the central counselling board headquarters by tomorrow.
Ridiculing the education directorate here, Mr Lakshminarayanan said that no students could get it done because of the public holiday today and send it accross to reach Allahabad tomorrow as in Puducherry it is a public holiday tommorow also.
In such a situation, the Chief Minister and the Education Minister should intervene to seek adequate time so that the interested candidates could get admissions, he added.
