Prachanda becomes Prime Minister of Nepal
Kathmandu, Aug 15 (UNI) Maoist chairman Prachanda has been elected the Prime Minister of Nepal with the support of Communist Parties including the UML and MJF.
He defeated the Nepali Congress candidate and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Mr Prachanda got 438 votes of the Maoists, UML, MJF and other small parties while Mr Deuba got 113.
The victory of the Maoists was possible when the UML and MJF left the alliance formed with the Nepali Congress during the time of presidential race last month.
