NRIs celebrate Independence Day in Singapore

Singapore, Aug 15: More than 600 Indian nationals on Friday, Aug 15 rendered the national anthem when the tricolour was hoisted at the Indian High Commission here, celebrating the 62nd Independence Day. Indian High Commissioner S Jaishankar read out the President Pratibha Patil's address delivered on the eve of independece in New Delhi.

Students from Indian schools operating in Singapore rendered patriotic songs. The India High Commissioner hosted the Indian community living in Singapore to a reception after the morning celebrations.
