Nine killed, 12 injured as bus falls into ditch

Lakhisarai, Aug 15 (UNI) At least nine people were killed and 12 injured when a bus, in which they were travelling, fell into a ditch near Jhulauna village under Ramgarh Chowk police station area in the district today.

Police said the incident took place when the bus was on way to Lakhisarai from Sikandra in Jamui district. The driver lost control over the vehicle the accident, they stated.

Eight people died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries while he was being rushed to the hospital, police said, adding the injured were admitted to a local hospital.

Six victims were identified as -- Shankar Yadav, Sanjay Sao, Kailash Mandal, Sadan Mandal, Kalo Mandal and Chandan. Identity of one woman and two other victims had not been ascertained so far, police added.

Senior police and civil officers of the district administration were camping at the spot to supervise the rescue operation.
