Man killed in mid-day meal dispute

Sagar, MP, Aug 15 (UNI) A man was killed and another injured following mid-day meal distribution-related dispute between two groups in this district's Jaisinagar area today, police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Tilak Singh said that the family of Lakhan Patel and Karan Patel prepared food under mid-day meal scheme for village's school but another group of the same village also wanted to cook the food.

Due to this enmity arose between them and about a dozen people, including Santosh Tisari, Pyare and Shambhu, attacked Lakhan's family with weapons this morning, killing Lakhan on the spot while Karan received serious injuries. He is undergoing medical treatment.

A case was registered in this direction though no arrests were made so far, he added.
