K'taka CM performs pooja to river Cauvery at KRS dam

Mandya, Aug 15 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today performed pooja to Mother Cauvery at the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) reservoir, lifeline of the state across river Cauvery, after the dam reached the full level.

Mr Yeddyurappa rushed to KRS reservoir immediately after unfurling the tri-colour at a function to celebrate the 62nd Independence day and performed pooja to Cauvery river.

The reservoir reached its maximum level of 124 feet yesterday following incessant rains in catchment areas in the upstream of Cauvery river in Kodagu district. The KRS attained its full capacity for the fourth consecutive year.

State Ministers Ramachandre Gowda, Narendraswamy, Shobha Karandlaje and Basavaraj Bommai, were present on the occasion.
