Governor hosts tea party with cultural shows
Chennai, Aug 15 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala hosted a reception at Raj Bhavan on the occassion of Independence Day celebrations here this evening.
According to a press release from Raj bhavan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, former Governor Dr P C Alexander, former Governor of Orissa M M Rajendaran, Speaker of Tamil Nadu Lagislative Assembly R Avudaiappan, Cheif justice of Madrass High court Ashok Kumar Gangully, ministers, Chief Secretary L K Tripathy, Special Cheif Secretary K S Sripathi, DGP K P Jain, City Police Commissioner R Sekar, were among those who attended the tea party.
A Bharathanatyam ballet Dance by Dr Ambika Kameshwar and troupe, Sambalpuri folk dance by Joshna Sahoo and troupe and Sididhamal folk dance by Mur John Sidhi and troupe were also staged on the occasion.
Tri-Colour balloons were let off by the Governor symbolising the spirit of freedom.
