Gokarnath temple trust announces solatium
Mangalore, Aug 15 (UNI) The authorities of the famous Gokarnatheswara temple in the Daxina Kannada district have announced a solatium of Rs 30,000 each to the next of the kin of those killed in the bus accident yesterday.
The management of the temple, one of the oldest shrine in South India, expressed deep grief over the accident in which 11 people, including seven school children, were killed.
Meanwhile, Daxina Kannada district incharge minister Krishna Palemar visted the families of the deceased and consoled them.
The minister also handed over a cheque of Rs one lakh to the families who had lost their kin in the bus accident.
As many as 11 people were killed while another 17 were rescued when a bus carrying school children plunged from a bridge into the overflowing Falguni river near Mangalore yesterday.
