Fire destroys 32 huts and property at Vaioikuppam

Puducherry, Aug 15: As many as 32 huts and property worth several lakh were destroyed in a fire at Vaioikuppam here on Thursday, Aug 14.

Police said the fire, which was first noticed in a hut, spread rapidly as LPG cylinders exploded fanning the flames further.

Fire tenders fought the blaze for over two hours and brought the flames under control. Sparks from an unattended oven was suspected to have sparked the inferno.
