Couple trying to commit suicide arrested

Hajipur, Aug 15 (UNI) A couple was arrested for making a suicide bid before the Collectorate at Hajipur, protesting alleged irregularities committed in recruitment of Angavanbari Sevikas in Vaishali district today.

Police said here Vijay Kumar and his wife Sangeeta from Lavapur village tried to commit suicide by making an attempt to set ablaze themselves after pouring kerosene when the Independence Day celebration was on at Hajipur collectorate.

They were arrested before they could set ablaze themselves, police added.

In another incident at Kachari Madian in Vaishali district, one Bachu Rai was arrested for suicide bid adopting similar modus operandi when state Rural Works Minister Brishen Patel was addressing the people after hoisting the tri-colour.

He was prtotesting the failure of police to arrest the killer of his wife even after eight months of her murder.
