2 BMC engineers held for accepting bribe
Mumbai, Aug 15 (UNI) The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) engineers for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs seven lakh from a marble trader at Malad in the western suburbs of the metropolis last night.
According to ACB sources, Rajesh Dhole and Amol Sawant had allegedly demanded Rs 20 lakh from the marble trader to stop demolition of a wall of his shop, which comes under their jurisdiction.
The trader, who agreed to pay the amount in installments, however, lodged a complaint with the ACB.
Fearing arrest the duo did not turn up to collect the money on three occasions.
However, yesterday they came to collect the bribe amount of Rs seven lakh and were arrested, the sources added.
