Rajnath Singh courts arrest protesting Noida firing incident

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh today courted arrest protesting against yesterday's police firing on farmers at Noida and demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident and adequate compensation to the family members of those killed in the firing.

Condemning the police firing, Mr Singh said land acquisition for personal reasons should not be done and if the situation so warranted then the farmers' approval should be sought before appropriating their land.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has become a party for the rich and has stopped representing the poor farmers, Mr Singh alleged.

Several senior BJP leaders courted arrest along with Mr Singh on the Uttar Pradesh border including Hukum Singh MLA, Ashok Pradhan MP, former Union Minister Satpal Malik and BJP Kisan Morcha president Vinod Pandey.
