President congratulates Olympics hero Abhinav Bindra
New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil today congratulated Abhinav Bindra for his historic achievement of winning India's first-ever individual gold medal at the Olympics.
The President, in her address on the eve of India's 62nd Independence Day, also conveyed good wishes to the Indian contingent presently in Beijing for the Olmypic Games.
''I speak to you as the Olympic Games are underway in Beijing. I convey my good wishes to our contingent. I would like to especially congratulate Abhinav Bindra for his historic achievement of winning India's first ever individual Gold Medal,'' the President said.
The President had, on August 11 also, congratulated Abhinav Bindra saying his achievement was even greater as not only had India won a Gold Medal at the Olympic Games after a very long gap of 28 years, but also because he had become the first ever Indian to win a Gold Medal at the Olympics in an individual event.
