K'taka releases Rs 40 crore for relief works
Bangalore, Aug 14 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said the State Government had released Rs 40 crore for taking up flood relief work.
Mr Yeddyurappa told reporters here the government would release more funds, if required after taking stock of the situation this evening.
Three Ministers, led by Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai were camping at the flood-hit areas to assess the losses.
The district administration had been instructed to shift people from the innudated villages to safer places in Belgaum District.
The Chief Minister said he will also tour the flood-hit areas in the next few days.
The State Government will soon prepare a memorandum for seeking help from the Centre in taking up relief works in the State.
