Kidwai to give cheques to martyrs

Chandigarh, Aug 14 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai will present cheques worth Rs 2.50 lakh each as grant-in-aid to the two martyr families of district Gurgaon in a state-level Independence function being organised at Gurgaon tomorrow.

Stating this today, Chairman Zila Sainik Board Deepti Umashankar said that grant-in-aid would be given to the family members of martyrs Anil Kumar and Mukesh Kumar.

She said Martyr Mukesh Kumar was resident of village Panchgaon in district Gurgaon and posted as Subedaar in 50-Rashtriya Rifle (Kumaun Regiment).

He was selected in Indian Army in the year 1985. He served in various places in the Army and was transferred in 50-RR in Jammu and Kashmir where he sacrificed his life in a militant attack on September 21, 2007. He was survived by his wife, four daughters and a son.

She said that Martyr Anil Kumar was resident of village Pahari in district Gurgaon and selected in Indian Army in the year 1995. He was transferred in Jammu and Kashmir in 22-RR (Punjab) where he made supreme sacrifices in a battle with militants on November 12, 2007.

He was survived by his father, mother, wife, a son and daughter.
