Heavy vehicle entry restricted in Ayodhya
Ayodhya, Aug 14: Entry of heavy vehicles has been restricted in the temple city from this evening to August 16 due to a huge rush of devotees at the ongoing Saawan Mela.
Superintendent of Police (SP)(city) Gopesh Nath Khanna said the step has been taken for safety as a large crowd was visting the Mela.
About the diverted traffic routes, the SP said the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses and other vehicles, coming from Barabanki, would now pass through Ramnagar crossing of the district, while the heavy vehicles coming from Gorakhpur district would traverse through Dumariyaganj road.
However, ambulance, dairy, press and corpse carrying vehicles have been kept an exception, Mr Khanna informed.
Meanwhile, timings for Ramlala's darshan have been extended for devotees from today till August 17 here.
As per the new timings, the darshan could be done between 0700 hrs and 1200 hrs and 1400 hrs and 1800 hrs, Additional District Magistrate Divya Prakash Giri said.
The change has been made seeing the large numbger of devotees visiting the holy city for the Saawan Mela, he added.
