HAWK AJT inducted into Indian Air Force

Bangalore, Aug 14 (UNI) The HAWK Mk132, advanced jet trainer built by the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was today inducted into the Indian Air Force.

The BAE systems designed supersonic jet trainer was handed over to Air Chief Marshal Fally H Major by HAL Chairman Ashok K Baweja at a function at the HAL airport here.

Earlier, HAL Chief Test Pilot Sqn Ldr (Rtd) Baldev Singh flew the aircraft in a breathtaking display on overcast and windy day.

Air Force Chief said the HAWK would help the Indian Air Force with a lead end trainer that would seemlessly help shift from subsonic to supersonic module for its cadet pilots.

''HAWK was a long felt need of the Air Force and today is a red letter day for us,'' he said.
