Haryana records Rs 40,000 cr export in 2007-08

Chandigarh, Aug 14 (UNI) Recording Rs 40,000 crore export in 2007-08, Haryana is emerging as an industrial hub in the region with many multinational companies, state Governor A R Kidwai said today.

''The export from Haryana during the year 2007-08 has become Rs 40,000 crore. Many multinational companies are setting up their research and development centres in the state which would create ample employment opportunities for the youth,'' Mr Kidwai said in a message on the eve of the Independence Day.

Today, Haryana had 1,342 large&medium and about 80,000 small scale industrial units.

''The highest priority has been accorded by the state to the industrial growth. The New Industrial Policy of 2005 announced by the present Government has played a prominent role in creating a global platform for industries in Haryana,'' he said.

The policy had started showing results with a large number of entrepreneurs from India and abroad attracted towards Haryana for setting up their units.

Numerous incentives in the form of loans, subsidies, water, power had been offered to the promising entrepreneurs and industrialists, he said.

''Haryana state is also playing a lead role in strengthening the economy and the democratic norms of the country through its progressive social and economic policies and programmes,'' he added.

Haryana, he said, was an agrarian state of the country which had succeeded in becoming one of the leading producers of foodgrains.

''We are proud that our state is the biggest basmati rice exporter in the country. The hardworking farmers of Haryana have succeeded in increasing the food-grains production over 152 lakh tonnes during 2007-08,'' he said.
