CCEA clears modernisation of Chennai airport
New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for modernisation and expansion of the Chennai airport at an estimated cost of Rs 1808 crore.
With the modernisation and expansionof the Aiport, an additional passenger handling capacity of 14 million passengers per anum(mppa) of international standards will be created.
Briefing newspersons on the outcome of the CCEA's decisions, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said secondary runway will be extended to a length sufficient for handling code E-aircaraft.
Mr Chidambaram said work on the project would be completed within 26 months of the award.
