11 people drown as mini-bus falls into Phalguni river
Mangalore, Aug 14 (UNI) At least 11 people, including school children, women and aged, drowned when a mini school bus fell into the swollen Phalguni river at Gurupur, near here, today.
Police said that the bodies of 11 people were recovered and 25 people rescued by fire fighters, divers and localists. The deceased included two women, three boys, four girls and two aged people.
A search is on for five more who were also feared drowned.
The deceased were identified as Badruddin (28), the driver of the bus, Kamalaksha (33), an electrician, Anush (7), Afeez (7), Afzal Ismail (9), Sabeena (10), Suhana (7), Mushir (7), Saramma (4), Ramlath (20) and Musar (6).
