11 killed in Ramban accident

Jammu, Aug 14 (UNI) At least eleven people were killed and one sustained injury when a truck in which they were travelling, rolled down near Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, official sources here today said.

''The truck carrying around dozen people, was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu and rolled down when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp turn near Chasma Battery (Anokhi Fall) on national highway and fell into 300-feet deep gorge,'' official sources told UNI.

Nine people died on the spot and two succumbed while being shifted to the nearby hospital, sources said asserting, ''on receiving information, police parties and army personnel rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.'' One of the injured was admitted in the hospital and their identities are yet to be ascertained, they added.
