TTD employees call off 'maha dharna'

Tirupati, Aug 14 (UNI) The 'maha dharna' by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) employees over the suspension of three senior TTD officials, was called off after an assurance from Executive Officer (EO) K V Ramanachary, today.

According to sources, Mr Ramanachary had assured the employees that the matter regarding revoking the suspension order of the officials would be discussed in an emergency board meeting to be held tomorrow.

The officials-- Special Grade Deputy Executive Officer (General) Prabhakar Reddy, Local Temple Deputy Executive officer Vasudevan and Tirumala Temple Superintendent Ramachandra Reddy--were suspended by the EO two days ago for their alleged complicity in the gold dollars missing case.

Almost all political parties in Andhra Pradesh had thrown their weight behind the TTD employees, who held the dharna in front of the TTD headquarters here.

The employees, who had threatened to go on 'mass leave,' joined duties following the EO's assurance.
