Ranganathittu Bird Santuary flooded
Mysore, Aug 13 (UNI) The famous Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary near here was submerged under flood waters of River Cauvery following heavy discharge from the Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir (KRS).
Entry into the sanctuary and boating has been banned by the authorities.
The outflow from KRS has increased to more then 50,000 cusecs leading to submerging of the bird sanctuary. However, there was no loss of birds or their nests with the Forest Department officials taking precautionary measures.
The combined outflow from KRS and Kabini has crossed 90,000 cusecs this evening. The KRS water level touched 124 feet against full level of 124.80 feet.
