Load shedding temporarily withdrawn in K'taka
Bangalore, Aug 13 (UNI) The Karnataka Government today announced withdrawal of load shedding in the State following widespread rainfall in catchment areas and increase in water level in Power generating Reservoirs, Minister for Power K S Eshwarappa said today.
In a release here, he said that a decision to this effect was taken at Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting held earlier in the day.
'' However, the restriction on supply of power in rural areas of three phase nine hours and single phase eight hours and no supply for seven hours, introduced in 2005, would continue,'' he added.
The Minister said steps were taken to ensure power generation from at least six units of Raichur Thermal Power Station and increase generation to 500 Mw in the recently inaugurated first stage of Bellary Thermal Power Station.
He said the Mahatma Gandhi Hydel Power Station had started generating 50 MW of power.
The Power generation was stopped on August ten following landslide due to heavy rainfall.
