K'taka Govt ready to battle for Cultural status to Kannada
Bangalore, Aug 13 (UNI) The Karnataka Government is all set to fight a legal battle, if necessary, to get cultural status to Kannada, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs S Sureshkumar, said today.
In a release here, the minister clarified that the State Government has not received any notice from Madras High Court on a Public interest petition. Hence the necessity of legal recourse has not arisen so far.
However, the government has prepared itself for it and Kannada and Culture Department Principal Secretary has been asked to keep ready details and documents, the release added.
He said he was in touch with Law Department Secretary and State Advocate General to go for appeal in case the verdict goes against the interests of the State Government.
