Kingfisher Airlines opts for IBS' cargo solution
Bangalore, Aug 13 (UNI) Kingfisher Airlines has started using IBS'iCargonet, a 'Software as a Sservice' (SaaS) version of IBS' new generation Airline Cargo Management System, iCargoGold.
Talking to newsmen here, IBS Chairman and CEO V K Mathews said the five-year deal was signed with Kingfisher Airlines.
The system would enable the airline to use all the functionalities of a proven integrated Cargo Management System while drastically bringing down the total cost of ownership, he claimed.
The aviation industry was growing at faster rate in the country and had achieved an overall profit growth of 4.5 per cent under passenger traffic and six per cent in cargo traffic since 2005.
Global airfreight would treble in the next 17 years and expected to touch 600 billion US Dollar from 200 billion US Dollar in 2007.
To a question, he said despite passenger yield dropping 46 per cent and cargo by 56 per cent, the industry was making profit.
The Indian market had become mature enough to take advantage of the present opportunity, he said.
