IIT heads to meet to discuss vacant seats today
New Delhi, Aug 13 : Chiefs of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will meet here today to decide on how to fill up the vacant seats reserved for for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe candidates.
IIT Delhi Director Prof. Surendra Prasad said said that a few seats for SC/ST candidates are lying vacant in the new IITs. This will be discussed today. A final decision will be taken on how to fill them up.
The government has started six new IITs from this session. The activities of the new institutes are managed by the older institutes, which are acting as mentor institutes for the new ones. The meeting will also decide on the preparatory courses to be provided to students who may be taken against the vacant seats.
