HC direction to AIADMK Legislator

Chennai, Aug 13 (UNI) Madras High Court today directed AIADMK Legislator V P Kalairajan to appear before the appropriate authority to seek licence for possessing a gun.

The First Bench comprising Chief Justice A K Ganguly and Justice F M Ibrahim Kalifulla, gave the directive, while allowing an appeal filed by City Police Commissioner against a single Judge order, who had directed him to consider the licence application of Mr Kalairajan.

Setting aside the single Judge order, the Bench said the Legislator could file an appeal before the appropriate authority within 30 days.

The authority should consider the plea without insisting on the period of limitation as the matter was pending for quite sometime in the court, the Bench said.
