Curfew relaxation extended till 2000 hrs despite massive protests
Srinagar, Aug 13 (UNI) The authorities today extended curfew relaxation till 2000 hrs in the summer capital and Badgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, despite massive protests at several places, forcing security forces and police to fire in the air and burst teargas shells.
Earlier, the curfew was relaxed from 0800 hrs to 1100 hrs which was later extended to 1400 hrs.
Curfew was lifted in Kulgam, Kupwara and Anantnag while it was relaxed for different periods in Pulwama, Ganderbal and other places in Badgam.
However, the situation on the ground was totally different as security forces deployed on the streets were allowing only those who were holding curfew passes.
The streets wore a deserted look after 1400 hrs as security force were not allowing people to move without curfew passes.
Similar checks were being conducted at Batmaloo, Maisuma and near Iqbal park.
A youth was injured when security forces at Bemina fired at him while he was coming out from a local mosque.
Earlier, people of the area protested against the security forces who allegedly damaged windowpanes of the mosque.
