Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 13 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Medical Contract Workers Union today appealed to the government to implement the Government Order for payment of better and fair wages to staff who were outsourced for work in various departments of the Government General Hospital.

Addressing the workers here, K Satyavati of the union claimed more than 200 outsourced staff were working in the hospital for the last several years at meagre wages.

Pointing out the GO issued on July 13, 2006 had prescribed the minimum wage for Class IV staff at Rs 3,900, she regretted nurses, X-Ray and lab technicians, though skilled, were getting meagre wages ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 per month as they were outsourced.

She asked the government to implement the new wage structure for contract and outsourced staff as announced on March 17 this year.

Later, a delegation led by AITUC District General Secretary and Union Honorary President K Krishna Rao called on Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi and presented a memorandum listing out their demands.
