Five burglars escape from police lock-up

Kozhikode, Aug 13: Five burglars, arrested in connection with various theft cases in the city, escaped from police lock-up on Wednesday, Aug 13.

Police said Mohanan and Rameshan, hailing from Palakkad and Kozhikode districts respectively, and Manikandan, Sivajiganesan and Jagadeesh of Vagatheru, Selam and Annasalai in Tamil Nadu, escaped from Kozhikode Medical College police lock-up, hoodwinking the security personnel in the wee hours.

A local court had handed them to police custody for interrogation three days ago, they said.

Security agencies throughout the state were alerted to nab them, police added.
