AIADMK functionary escapes bomb attack

Puducherry, Aug 13 (UNI) Tension prevailed as the villagers of Vanarapet picketed the Odeansaalai Police Station following an unsucessful bomb attack on an AIADMK functionary here today.

According to police, two motorcycle-borne youths hurled a country-made bomb at Ganesh of AIADMK while he was standing on the road at Vanarapet.

However, he caught the bomb preventing it from exploding.When the youths saw this, they hurled another bomb which also did not explode.

Hearing this,people from the area gathered and took out a procession to the Odeansaalai Police Station along with the bombs and picketed it demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.

AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan came to the police station along with senior police officials and tried to pacify people.

On assurance that the culprits would be booked soon,the mob dispersed after handing over the bombs in the police station.Ganesh had escaped a similar bomb attack a few months back.

Two school children died when a bomb exploded on a railway track when they attempted to break it open.
