SP demands case against Etawah SSP over CMO's murder

Lucknow, Aug 12 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) today charged the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Etawah, with hatching a conspiracy with the drug mafia' to eliminate the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and demanded lodging of a murder case against the police official.

Uttar Pradesh SP working president Shivpal Singh told mediapersons here that SSP Etawah Siaram Aditya was responsible for the killing of CMO O P Chimpa on Saturday night inside his official residence at Etawah.

The police official was directly behind the killing as he was giving patronage to the criminals of the district and the drug mafia were against the CMO, he said.

Demanding his immediate removal from Etawah and lodging of a murder case against the SSP, beside a high-level probe into the killing of the CMO, Mr Yadav said the SSP was also involved in the killing of a student at Saifai during a SP agitation in January last.

The SP state president also demanded a probe into the immolation of a tea vendor in front of the residence of BSP MLA O P Singh in the state capital yesterday.

''A high level probe should be ordered on the reasons behind the self-immolation as it concerns a ruling party MLA,'' he said.

Meanwhile, SP sponsored bandh in Etawah in protest against the killing of the CMO was successful with all markets remaining closed and vehicular traffic on the roads were thin.

Mr Yadav alleged that police resorted to baton in Etawah during peaceful demonstrations by SP activists in support of the bandh.
