'Mama' of Madge's adopted son dies

Washington, Aug 12 : The woman who brought up Madonna's adopted son David Banda in his native Malawi has died after losing her battle with pneumonia.

Asineti Mwale helped the tot's father Yohane Banda raise the child after the death of David's biological mother.

The 60-year-old was referred to as 'Mama' by the Banda family.

She supported Yohane's difficult decision to put David in the Home of Hope Orphanage in Malawi, where Madonna spotted him when in the country on charity work.

It is also reported she fully championed Madonna's decision to adopt the tot.

"Mama Asineti died last night. Burial is tomorrow," Contactmusic quoted a relative of Banda as telling People magazine.
