Indo-Bangla border on alert for I Day
Guwahati, Aug 12 (UNI) A high alert has been sounded along the Indo-Bangla border ahead of Independence Day, BSF sources informed.
Additional troops have been deployed and stricter vigil is being maintained to prevent movement by any anti-national elements. Though there are no specific threats, the vigil has been tightened as intelligence reports have indicated that militants could try to strike during the August 15 celebrations, BSF sources added.
Security across the state has also been beefed up in view of the outlawed organizations', especially ULFA's, previous record of violence in the run up to Independence Day.
The customary boycott call of the Day's celebrations has already been given by four outfits of the North East, including the ULFA, which has led to greater security.
The growing activities of the jehadis have also added to the concern for the security forces, who could also use the August 15 celebrations to strike.
