Indian falls to death in Ras Al Khaimah

Dubai, Aug 12 (UNI) An Indian worker died after falling from the eighth floor of an under construction high-rise building in Ras Al Khaimah, police said.

Concrete blocks which fell on him from a crane caused his death.

The 27-year-old victim was taken to Saqr Hospital but was declared dead.

The accident occurred at a building on Oman Street in Al Nakheel area. Investigations were on and the victim's colleagues and witnesses were called for questioning.

The construction of the eighth floor had been completed and the man was cleaning it up. He had taken the construction debris and was emptying it in a container attached to the crane, the witnesses said.

One witness said that as the victim emptied the debris into the container, the crane moved, overturning the container and making him fall. He was crushed under the debris.

It was not clear if the man's relatives would get any compensation.
