Heavy rains damage property, affect normal life
Shimla, Aug 12 (UNI) Moderate to heavy rain since last 24 hrs caused damage to property in many places of Himachal Pradesh and affected telecommunication, water supply and electricity in the state.
According to police sources, due to heavy rain last night a two storey house collapsed in village Rampuri of Shimla district, in which two Jersai cows were burried.
The state capital Shimla recorded highest rainfall at 33.8 mm, Sundernagar 15.0 mm, Nahan 20.6 mm, Kalpa 5.6 mm, Dharmshala 4.8 mm and Una 8.6 mm.
The vehicular traffic on NH-22 from Dali to Rampur was disrupted due to landslides at many places.
Meanwhile, due to heavy rainfall, the apprehensions of disease are becoming more and more in prepared Apple crops in upper part of state. Mango, cherry and other crops of lower areas also got damaged due to excessive rain. Heavy rains in Solan and Sirmour district have also ruined cash crops like tomato, brinjal and Shimla Mirch.
The packing and transportation of apple also got affected due to slow traffic and landslides in many link road in Shimla district.
The power generation of Six units of 1500 MW Nathpa Jakhri Power station which was closed due to silt problem has once again started due to decrease in silt level.
The rainfall brought down the minimum and maximum temperatures in the state. Kalpa recorded the minimum temperature at 11.5 degrees Celsius and maximum at 21.1 degrees celsius, Shimla 16.2 and 21.5 degree celsius, Sundernagar 20.2 and 29.4, Bhuntar 20.6 and 31.4, Dharmshala 17.7 and 23.4 degrees celsius, Nahan 21.5 and 28.8 degrees celsius.
The met office has forcast rain or thunder-showers in many places in Himachal for next 24 hrs.
