Explosion kills 13 in Peshawar

Islamabad, Aug 12 (UNI) At least 13 people were killed and 10 wounded after an explosion ripped through a Pakistan Airforce bus on Mardan road in Peshawar today.

The vehicle, which was used for transporting rations was hit by a remotely detonated improvised explosive device while it was crossing a bridge killing at least 13 people including four Airforce officials and a four-year-old girl, police officials said.

Police and rescue teams shifted the bodies and injured to Lady Reading hospital.

No one has so far claimed responsibility for the blast in Peshawar, which took place near Bajaur tribal region where Army troops are engaged in fierce fighting with Taliban militants from the last 10 days.

According to local officials in Bajaur, more than 150 militants have been killed so far in the operation.
