Communist demand inquiry into yesterday firing in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 12 (UNI) Expressing deep sorrow over the death of senior Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz and others in police firing, the Communist Party of India (M) today demanded a judicial probe into the incident.
In a statement here today, while expressing grief over the unfortunate death of many people including Aziz, the State Secretary CPI (M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has demanded judicial inquiry into the incident that took place at Chahal Uri yesterday.
He termed the police action against protestors as unfortunate.
Mr Tarigami demanded immediate relief to the families of victims and those who were injured in the incident.
He urged upon the administration to exercise restraint in dealing with the situation.
The Central government and the State administration should ensure restoration of National Highway on priority to facilitate smooth flow of essential commodities and Kashmiri produce including apples and other perishable products, he added.
