Andaman lowers cautionary signal on ports
Port Blair, Aug 12 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar administration today lowered the local cautionary signals on its ports.
Following unfavourble weather condition, the administration had hoisted cautionary signal number III on all ports disrupting normal sailing.
After lowering the signal the Shipping department resumed normal sailing for both inter-island and mainland sector vessels.
''This is a great relief for remote islanders who were totally cut-off since the last five days,'' said Bimal Roy, a public leader of Neil Island, which is connected with Port Blair via sea route.
However, according to local Met office, strong south-westerly wind with speed between 45-55 km per hour and rough to very rough sea is likely along and off Andaman and Nicobar coast, which may make sea journey choppy.
