Center, SASS to resolve Amarnath land row

{image-amarnath land row_12082008.jpg news.oneindia.in}New Delhi, Aug 12: An all-party meeting on resolving the Amarnath land row here on Tuesdy, Aug 12 decided to invite the Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti (SASS) leaders to the capital for talks on the issue.

The meeting also appealed for peace in Jammu and Kashmir even as fresh protests broke out in both the regions of the state. The meeting, which was chaired by Home Minister Shivraj Patil, was attended among others by former Chief Ministers of the state--Farooq Abdullah and Ghulam Nabi Azad. for discussions, third in the series, followed a similar all-Party meeting on Monday, Aug 11 which failed to arrive at any conclusion. It was then decided to meet again.

An earlier meeting was held last week where it was decided to send an all-party delegation to the state for an on-the-spot study of the situation. Meanwhile, officials said the government was keeping a close watch on the situation in the state. The all-party delegation returned after a two-day tour of the state and met the leaders of the SASS which is spearheading the agitation in Jammu.
