11 people killed, 192 security personnel wounded in Kashmir: DGP
Srinagar, Aug 12 (UNI) Expressing satisfaction over the peaceful burial of senior Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Kuldeep Khuda today said there were 33 processions in the Kashmir valley today.
He said security forces exercise maximum restrain but 11 people were killed and 192 security and police personnel were injured in the clashes across the valley.
Talking to reporters Mr Khuda thanked the people for maintaining peace at Eidgah and other places during the funeral procession and burial of Mr Aziz.
He said there were clashes between demonstrators and police and security forces at various places in which 11 people were killed and 192 security and police personnel were injured.
The injured included three senior police officers, condition of one of them is critical. We are planning to airlift him to Delhi, Mr Khuda said.
He said the violent mob set on fire a police and a CRPF vehicles besides one State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) and 33 other government vehicles.
He said adequate arrangements had been made for smooth movement of trucks and tankers on the highway.
Carrying fruit for different mandies in the country and those coming with essential commodities are being escorted on the highway.
Mobile patrolling on the highway has been introduced to foil any attempt of the attack by miscreants He appeal to people to help restore normalcy in the state.
