1000 UP-bound cases of liquor seized
Ambala, Aug 12 (UNI) In a big haul, the excise department confiscated more than 1000 cases of English liquor from two trucks on their way to Kharkhauda in Sonepat district and Uttar Pradesh today.
One 10 tyre-truck and another truck had left Chandigarh with the smuggled liquor, were raided by the two separate teams of the excise department at Shahzadpur and Saha Chowk under orders from the Ambala district Deputy Excise Commissioner R.K. Poria today.
Mr Poria said that the liquor being smuggled was of Royal Stag and Bonny Scott.
He said that the truck driver Ashwini Kumar and conductor Vijay Kumar were arrested.
He said that a notice had been issued to the truck owner and action would be taken against them under Excise Act.
