Robbery gang busted; 3 held
Kanpur, Aug 11 (UNI) With the arrest of three members of an inter-state robbery gang, police claimed to have solved over three dozen cases of robbery in the city here today.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Ram Lal Verma, the gang comprised nine members, of whom kingpin Ganga Ram, Santosh and Chanchal were arrested near Panki railway station late last night.
Ganga Ram was carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head.
The syndicate had committed crimes in various cities, including Hyderabad and Dehradun, the SP added.
As per the modus-operandi, the gang used to keep an eye over the bank customers and deprived them with their money and valuables.
On July 2, the gang's member had looted Rs one lakh from Ravindra Nath Gupta, a trader from Jalaun, when he was coming out from a bank at Mall Road area.
The gang had so far committed over 250 robberies in various parts of the country.
