OPCS recommends expulsion of former sava dal chief
Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 (UNI) The Orissa Pradesh Congress Sevadal(OPCS) today unanimously passed a resolution recommending the party High Command to expel former Orissa Sevadal Chief Shivendra Hati for six years.
Sevadal National Coordinator Navjeet Kalra told newspersons here that a resolution in this regard was passed at a meeting of the state office bearers, district Board Chairmen, district Chief Organisers and lady organisers.
Mr Kalra said the resolution to take action against Mr Hati was passed after he expressed his outburst against Dal activists in fromt of the media.
He said Mr Hati who was heading the Sevadal in the state for the last seven years was recently replaced by Mr Raghunath Sahu on the recommendations of Congress Legislature Party leader J B Patnaik and Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Jaydev Jena.
Both Mr Patnaik and Mr Jena described Mr Hati as ''inactive'' and should be replaced in view of the coming elections.
Mr Kalra said the organisation was being activated across the state and hoped that it would play a decisive role in the coming elections.
He said the Sevadal was working on a six point agenda to revamp the Dal in Orissa adding that the Seval Dal decided to enroll at least one member in each of the 50,000 villages and enroll another 10,000 members in the state before the elections.
The Sevadal would organise a Jyoti Yatra in the name Rajiv Smruti to educate the people about the developmental schemes launched by the UPA government and the benefits of the Nuclear deal.
The Dal, he said, had divided the entire state into four zones-- east, west, north, south and planned to organise a camp in each zone.
The Sevadal also decided to organise a national workshop for the first time in Orissa within the next two months in which Congress President Sonia Gandhi, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders of the party would be invited to participate, Mr Kalra said.
